  • De functie
    • This is an exciting opportunity to join our client, which is currently enjoying significant expansion, in a newly created position of TAX Manager EMEA.
    • Main responsibility of this role is the development, design, management and updating of EMEA-wide Tax Compliance and Tax Accounting and associated processes.
    • Prior solid and proven experience with and an excellent understanding of US GAAP tax accounting are essential. This role will report to the Director – EMEA Tax.
    • The candidate will be a member of the EMEA Tax Team, which currently consists of five people. The Company’s Global Tax Team is approximately 20 members large, and growing. The Global Tax Team is also responsible for Corporate Legal matters, and works closely with the Treasury Team within its department. The Global Tax Team is part of the Company’s Finance Team.
    • This is a newly created role will be based in the HQ in Amsterdam

    Specific Responsibilities:

    The EMEA Tax Manager will be:

    • Further developing and managing the tax compliance process, and automation thereof, for a steadily growing number of Corporate Income Tax (CIT) returns in the EMEA region – as well as any other non-VAT returns of the EMEA subsidiaries (currently in 19 countries).
    • Further developing and managing the tax payment processes, and its automation.
    • Performing the US GAAP Tax Accounting (deferred tax, current & prior year cash taxes, tax reserves) and related closing processes, and where needed, suggesting and/or implementing improvements to related policies, and automation thereof for the entities in the EMEA region.
    • Further developing and managing the EMEA Tax Team’s Budgets and Forecasting processes.
    • Managing CIT audits.
    • Coordinating with Treasury and Corporate Legal Departments to ensure appropriate subsidiary funding levels and help maintain legal entity governance.
    • Own and introduce any subsidy-related processes, primarily within The Netherlands, but possibly also internationally.
    • To keep in pace with the ferocious growth of the company, it will be essential to develop and maintain a highly structured and disciplined framework to manage the above mentioned processes
    • The EMEA Tax Manager will work closely with the Finance and IT departments, the wider International Tax Team, as well as with external service providers to build and improve tax related processes, and will be the linchpin between the USGAAP and local Statutory Accounts on the one hand, and the CIT and other non-VAT returns on the other hand.
    • The EMEA Tax Manager will ensure that all CIT returns and all other non-VAT returns are submitted in a timely and quality manner, and will be heavily involved with the Statutory-to-CIT trajectory, as well as the CIT-to-USGAAP trajectory to ensure full consistency and reconciliation.
    • The EMEA Tax Manager will furthermore perform all US GAAP tax accounting for the EMEA region, including tax reserve accounting, and will work closely together on this with his/her US counterpart.
    • As the company is growing very rapidly, both in terms of product diversity and geographical distribution, the role will develop accordingly.
    • The candidate is expected to initiate and manage ever-increasing automation of the tax compliance and tax accounting processes. As these processes become standardized, the successful candidate will be able to expand into areas like PE-assessments, contract reviews and new market entries.
    • Participate in the assessment of processes and systems and improvement initiatives to advance the transactional and financial reporting effectiveness, including strengthening the quality of our reporting and analysis.
    • Interprets data for the purpose of determining past financial performance and/or to identify risks & opportunities.
    • Assists financial analysis department in determining the focus and risk areas of financial analysis.
    • Assist with the data reporting and preparation of the Southern European tax filings.
    • Assist the senior manager and finance director with accounting related issues and identifies financial transactions and events not in accordance with GAAP. Applies a thorough knowledge of applicable laws and regulations.
    • Uses various software applications, such as Microsoft Dynamics AX, SharePoint, and reporting tools, and participates in improvement projects.
    • Understands the formal and informal departmental goals, standards, policies and procedures.
    • Exchanges non-routine information using tact and persuasion as appropriate requiring good oral and written communication skills.
    • Maintain and keep current a manual documenting all responsibilities and procedures performed by the financial controller function.
  • De functie-eisen

    The ideal candidate will:

    • Have solid project and planning capabilities, and an excellent feel for, and understanding of, Finance processes, and how to balance those against tax requirements. Where needed, the candidate will be closely involved with Finance process improvements.
    • Have at least 10 years relevant working experience (US Multinational, Big-4), is an enthusiastic team player, accurate and able to meet tight deadlines. The candidate has good knowledge of ERP systems (Microsoft AX is an advantage) and is Fluent in English. Additional language capabilities are definitely a plus.
    • Have a practical, hands-on and well-organized mindset, whilst at the same time be a self-starter capable of independently setting and achieving goals.
    • Be capable of achieving short term results, whilst never losing the right end-state out of sight.
    • Understand scalability considerations, and how to balance those against achieving immediate results.
    • Not be daunted by staggering growth, and the development needs that come with it.
